What is brachioplasty?Brachioplasty is the technique where the "wings" of the upper arms are reduced surgically in combination with liposuction. Is liposuction alone suitable for the upper arms?Liposuction alone may be suitable for young patients with elastic skin. Dr Kenton-Smith will be able to advise you if this is appropriate during a consultation. Patients who have undergone significant weight loss or who have stretch marks on their upper arms are unlikely to benefit from liposuction alone. These patients require liposuction in combination with skin removal from the inner arm. The scar usually starts in the armpit and extends down towards the elbow. This technique is called a brachioplasty. Dr Kenton-Smith will be able to advise you of the length of the scar required in your case. How visible is the scar?50% of scars are fine following brachioplasty. Unfortunately though, 50% of scars will be broad. This is more of an issue for patients who like to wear short sleeves. We do our best to minimise the width of the scar by providing a support garment which helps to support the skin of the arm whilst it is healing. What is the cost of surgery?A brachioplasty operation costs approximately $20,500 including hospital, anaesthetic and surgeons fees. A more exact price guide will be calculated after your consultation with Dr Kenton-Smith. ENQUIRE NOW |
