Fat grafting is a technique where your own fat is used to fill lines and contours in your face. Fat is initially harvested via liposuction to the abdomen or thighs. This is then purified and injected, using a criss-cross pattern of very fine tunnels into the portion of the face that requires filling. Fat grafting can be used to improve the white roll of the lip, rejuvenate thin lips and soften the nasolabial folds that run from the corner of the nose down the side of the mouth. Since the fat is living tissue, the fat that remains alive at three months, remains permanently. Fat grafting is commonly performed with face lifts, but may be used on its own. The cost of fat grafting varies according to how much is required to achieve the desired effect but fat transfer carried out in isolation, under general anaesthetic, will range between approximately $10,000 - $14,500 including hospital, anaesthetic and surgeon's fees. Some fat transfer can be carried out under local anaesthetic in Dr Kenton-Smith's rooms and this costs upwards of $3,000. A more exact price guide will be calculated after your consultation with Dr Kenton-Smith. |
